The PA had the option to extend the current CBA by two years, IIRC. They used up both of those years, and I think they don't have any other option but to work on a new one.
I'm still a fan of a harakiri clause. If the NHL faces a work stoppage, both the NHL commissioner and NHLPA executive director are immediately fired, cannot work for those respective organizations again, and cannot become members of the HHOF in the builders category.
If they're already in, under that description, they're kicked out.
