Your description (bolded) pretty much describes Bruins dman Johnny Boychuk. And for Boychuk whom was a 3rd round draft pick (61st overall), he's had a good career thus far.
Bogosian was drafted 3rd overall, so while he is a solid dman, his draft status suggests
he should be an impact player
. He has not lived up to the billing (yet). He may fulfill his potential still (he's only 21), but as of yet he's had a rather mediocre career. My only beef with you is that you labeled Bogosian a "stud". He isn't imo.
He is an impact player.
He was 34th in average ice time per game for defensemen. The only "young" (25 and under) guys on that list ahead of him are:
And that is with being on the 2nd pair because the coach is keeping Enstrom and Buff together for some reason, and not getting much PP time. Most Jets fans want Bogosian on the top pair with Enstrom, and move Buff to the 2nd pair. If you had a poll on the Jets board it would be lopsided in that direction.
Under 25 year old D men with more points this season:
Michael Del Zotto
He was 43 in terms of points, despite only playing 65 games, which is 10 to 15 less than most of those guys, and not getting much PP time. (He`s 25th in even strength scoring, but only between 67 and 73rd for PP points because he hasn`t gotten enough PP time).
Of the two lists, the only guys (25 and under) to average more minutes per game, and to have put up more points this season are:
So to speak to your post, he IS an impact player, whether you want to admit it or not is up to you.
