It seems that leather and synthetic leather palms retain odor and bacterial growth more than microfiber palms. Someone with more experience should chime in but with what I've had, this is what I've noticed.

You could try cleaning/treating your palms with lanolin (shaving cream) to make them softer, or take them to a Sani Sport cleaner. I had these really horrible synth leather Pittards on my S17s with really bad odor and had them repalmed with Nash, which eliminated that problem. However, I don't know if they were treated prior to repalming.
