I remember that one of the swedish tabloids NHL-blogger mentioned that Lundqvist tricked a teammate of his to call him "Kungen" - which means "The King" in swedish - quite many years ago and he kept calling him that so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the origin of the nickname.

"The Fjord" wouldn't make much sense since fjords are found in Norway..
