How good is Atlanta?

The Thrashers have won 5 games where they have been trailing by 2 goals. I think that is the sign of a good hockey team.
The main difference between this team and previous incarnations is effort, they expect to win night in and night out. When they are losing, they expect to get the next goal. Plenty of players have stepped up their play: Cowan, Petrovicky, Robitaille, plus the D has been adequate.
The schedule is what it is, nothing you can do about that. However the Thrashers have just gotten through a tough road patch, and are about to begin a stretch of home games. The Thrashers have been very good at home this year.
With all the struggles that the Western powers have been having this year, I do not see why you are playing the old "we play in the west boo hoo" card. The balance of power is still in the West, but it is not nearly as severe as it was the past couple of years. I certainly wouldn't mind playing Nashville 5 times a year, and right now I would like our chances.
