A hard cap makes no sense.

If it was 50 Million then we would have teams that could not afford the salary cap cause I believe with a hard cap you have to have a minimum Salary on it

If it was 30 Million then teams in Europe could compete for the same players with the same money.

The NHL needs to do a soft cap- luxery tax and revenue sharing to help the small market teams. 1 30th of the Rangers TV revenue on its own would help out the smaller teams. To filter out teams that should not recieve any help. A 90% attendance average should be required to gain the sharing. That reason alone would end teams like the Black Hawks treating thier fans like garbage and might force them to put a better product on the ice.

Anything less than this and you might as well fold 12 of the NHL teams right now. Because frankly they will not survive. A hard cap will move players to the WHL as well.
