This thread is great to read for someone like me who played competitively in school, but hasn't played since. Just watching the pros or college hockey,you can forget how much fun it is. But you all are sort of child-like in your approach and it's infectious. I need to join the local men's league or build a backyard rink.

Beth, great advice about stopping. If you keep decreasing the distance it takes to stop, while increasing your skating speed, eventually you will have the strength and control to stop on a dime like the pros.

Don't get discouraged if you don't feel good enough. Remember, it takes more will and effort to get better than to be good.
