Completely off topic, but I've believed for a long time that they should do everything they can to simplify the legal aspects of divorce and instead make it the marriage that requires the complex legal wrangling. The long, complicated divorce just makes both parties and their children more miserable.

Instead, getting married should require about six months of reviewing contracts, lawyer's visits and hearings. It would break couples who weren't committed enough before it got to the children and divorce stage of the relationship, and fire-harden the surviving relationships, reducing the number of divorces. And marriage lawyers would be agents of good rather than agents of greedy and vindictive husbands or wives.

Curious what you think of the idea.
