My son (9) just did the Stamm clinic and I was very impressed. These guys are pros and really break it down well. They focus on only a few techniques and really go into detail breaking it down in ways the kids can relate.
They shift between instruction and skating quickly without any delay so the kids are always engaged. The main instructor really seemed to have good control of the kids and always moves around to different circles when teaching.
The main thing they promote is the "drag touch" technique for the forward stride which emphasizes getting low and turning your toe out. This is something my son had issues with occasionally so I was happy they spent so much time on it.
Here's a list of what I remember:
- Lot's of forward stride (every day)
- Forward stride with correct arm movement
- Cross overs (did a good job with some balance / competition drills to get the kids low and on the right edges)
- Quick starts
- Powerful c-cuts
- Some backwards skating but not as much as I was expecting
Overall I thought it was pretty good. I sat next to another dad who said it was pretty similar to the RG clinic which I have no experience with (just want to be fair).
