Getting the 1 or 2 pick in the draft 3 years in a row kind of helps. Nashville has only had 1 pick in the top 2 (Legwand), and we had to trade up to get him

We were very lucky to end up with both of those guys. We picked second and the Islanders chose Diprieto. That left us to chose Heatly. And we were suppose to chose 3rd one year - but leap-frogged some teams when the lottery thing went down...we chose Kovalchuk. We also made some very smart draft-day decisions like .....we managed to trade around with everyone else one year and ended up with Kari Lehtonan. Last year we resisted trading the pick and got the bigtime D-man prospect we needed in Coburn. We did pick some nice players up late.....Garnett Exelby was picked way down the line and Pasi was a 6th rounder I think. And of course we drafted a few guys (Hordichuk) that in trades netted us Cowen and Savard.
