And by all accounts he accorded himself well in the face of the media/fan **** storm that went on after he was hired. Even a half season coaching in the NHL might help set him apart from the dozens of guys toiling in the AHL/CHL. A team with its coaching situation in flux might well give him a look as an AHL head coach or NHL assistant knowing that if they wanted to let him run the NHL club that he wouldn't be totally over his head.

And there would be no possible coaching vacancy for which you'd doubt if he could handle the market.

I hope that RC gets a real chance somewhere down the line and if he does you would think that this year's experience will have been part of the reason.
