Very good topic!
I myself have just got the hockey bug back in during the 05 December, started to skate and progressed well (skated sometimes when I was young). Now currently I'm 16, and I still know I can improve on my skating. The first time I got on ice last year, I was a natural. My dad was suprised on how well I skated, since I haven't been on ice for soo many years. I know that I am still limited in skating due to my fear to falling. I fell once before, and had thought I had broken my leg bone. I skate without any protective gear. If I would be able to myself a hold of some, I think I would turn out to be a pretty good Ice skater. My fear of falling would be gone, allowing me to start using hockey player stopping, and move backwards on skates. I know already just like you, that my parents will freak at the idea (well they did) about hockey and gear.

I still have my motivation, from Oliwa.
