I'm a bit surprised by this. Maybe him and his agent thought that he wouldn't get anything better than a two-way NHL contract this summer.

He began the season as property of Tampa Bay but was traded to Florida along with James Wright for Michael Kostka and Evan Oberg. That's a player than I thought was Europe bound.

It's crazy the number of times he was moved in the past couple years. Not counting the two trades you mentionned, he was signed by Atlanta in 2009 after Colorado didn't offer him a QO. During the season, he was loaned to Hamilton while Greg Stewart was loaned to the Chicago Wolves.

His rights were traded to San Jose by Atlanta because Atlanta needed to unload some contracts after acquiring Byfuglien, Sopel and Eager. He didn't stay with the Sharks for long, he became a UFA on July 1st and signed with Tampa.

That's 6 AHL teams for him since 2009, he also played a few games with Tampa and he was part of the Sharks' organisation for a week. After all that, I thought that he would have been looking for some stability in Europe.
