I'm not sure about other shows, but this season's finale had 4.2 million viewers when it premiered, and then a total of 5.1m including HBO's repeat. To put that into perspective, it's a 38% increase in the Season 1 finale, so it's experiencing solid growth (TWSS). In total, the average episode had 10.4m viewers from all legal platforms (premiere, repeat, HBO on demand, etc) and then about 4-5m illegal views.
As for modern TV ratings...
Game of Thrones - 4.2m
How I Met Your Mother - 8.87m
Big Bang Theory (Ugh) - 15m
Mad Men - 9.7m
House - 8.7m
Desperate Housewives - 11.1m
Family Guy - 5.7m
Of course, GoT is the only one of those that isn't on regular cable so the discrepancy is understandable. Big Bang Theory getting 15m, however, is baffling.
