I didn't knock his talent, I knocked his future production based on trends of players in the age rage he's about to come in to.
There also may be a reason why his shooting % was higher. You don't always shoot from the same angle, the goalie is sometimes up, sometimes down, etc. Hartnell received some incredible feeds and just had to react to score.
