Injuries are a huge factor in any playoff run. Not discounting the Kings incredible run in any way, but the entire team (essentially) was relatively healthy. That's extremely difficult to manage year after year.

I'd REALLY like to see a 4th place conference finish or better in the next few years when the Kings should be competitive annually so they can give a run a go with home ice. The path the Kings took being the 8th seed was the most difficult path possible. I'd like to see them win the division at some point and get a postseason path that's a bit more reflective of reality. They were an 8th seed in name only this year, that's for sure.

Keep in mind as well that as dominant as this run was, the saying "if you get to the Final, you'd better win it" is so very true because the offseason IS the shortest possible and fatigue will come in to play next year. It's extremely difficult to repeat because of that. There's essentially 2 months of down time and rehab that the entire team has missed.

Ironically, a (short) lockout to start the season would benefit the Kings.
