pavelski while a great center, doesnt get kane himself. our 1sts are usually late picks, so its likely it would be pavs+1st+something else.
You are giving the high points for Kane. Not the deficits (defense). Include defensive play and Kane/Pavs is very uneven in terms of team effect, definite edge to Pavs. The closer comp is Couture and I would give Kane an infinitesimal edge on Couture. I do agree that players like E. Kane are rare.
When considering Pavs in trade, his faceoffs, PK and general defensive play are elite at a very reasonable contract. The slowdown offense of the Sharks absolutely requires faceoffs and no one does it better than Pavs. You can't buy plugs to cover the issue.
