Past draft's give you an idea of what type of talent is typically left at that position in the draft. If you want to look at picks 8-10 from the past 10 drafts, the % of draft picks that are better than Gagner is right now isn't pretty. If you are looking above 8, why stop at 5, why not look at 3, or 2 or 1? At 8, you see what has been left at previous drafts. Each draft is unique, but people need to realize you aren't getting a lot of quality players out of each draft and each drop in draft position typically results in less productive players, if you actually get an NHL talent.
