Skating can sometimes be completely overhyped. Todd Marchant is a great skater, but he has hands of stone. Potulny is one of those guys who knows how to be in the right place at the right time. He has incredible hockey sense that makes up for the perceived skating issue. He'll be a great winger for the team.
Good point. To me more important than top end speed is the ability to get space to shoot in the offensive zone which it sounds like Ryan is very good at. A lot less goals are scored off the rush as opposed to on the power play or as the result of cycling.

Look at Knuble he's not a fast guy at all but still potted 30+ goals. Speed is good but the ability to put the puck in the net is much more important.
