If we're trading Hjalmarsson, 1 of 2 things better happen...
1) Bowman better know, with nearly no doubt in his head, that we are going to sign Suter
2) We better be getting a good defensive prospect who has potential to be a lot more than Hjalmarsson, who is on the cusp of making the NHL. And another 1st rounder.
Now I'll admit that I'm not a huge fan of how Hjalmarsson pretty much stagnated after his first full year in the NHL, but it's not hard to see that our team becomes much weaker without him in our line-up. We need to be able to see the benefits of trading him this year or the year after... and if the latter is the case, there needs to be the distinct possibility that his replacement can be much better than Hammer.
Other than that, it makes no sense to me. My hope would be that if we trade Hammer, that it's because we're trying to clear cap space to sign Suter...
