CORPUS CHRISTI — For a guy who was looking for a team a year ago, Anthony Stolarz isn't in a bad place right now.

The IceRays goalie is in Pittsburgh, where he's expected to be selected Saturday during the second day of the NHL draft. Stolarz is projected to be taken in the middle to late rounds of the seven-round draft.

What would he have said a year ago had someone told him he'd be invited to the draft and likely be the only North American Hockey League player taken?

"I probably would've told you that you were a little crazy," said Stolarz, who graduated from Gregory-Portland High School last month. "That's a big jump in terms of everything happening. It's just been a great experience for me. I owe Corpus Christi everything. They really just took me in when I needed a team and gave me a chance to play."

The accomplishment list for Corpus Christi IceRays goaltender Anthony Stolarz keeps getting bigger each week. The North American Hockey League (NAHL) goaltender can now add a new accomplishment to that list after being invited to the 2012 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp. Earlier this past season, the rookie committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

This announcement comes on the heels of Stolarz recently attending the NHL Combine in Toronto where he performed and ranked high in several categories. He will also travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania this upcoming weekend to take part in the 2012 NHL Draft. Round 1 of the Draft is Friday, Rounds 2-7 is on Saturday. The NAHL will be at the NHL Draft following Stolarz exclusively on NAHL.com.

Stolarz goes into the NHL Draft as the #4 ranked goalie in North American in the final NHL Central Scouting Rankings.
