Absolutely thrilled. I've said before, will say it again... it's a bit high sure, but Pavelec to me is worth a bit of a gamble.

If he reaches his potential during the term of this contract -- seems about right that he'd hit his peak in around 2-3 years -- this will be a bargain. If he doesn't, it's not like the contract is going to weigh us down that much... it's not some 10-year Bryzgalovish atrocity or anything. We have the cap space and will for the forseeable future.

So it's a low risk move for the Jets with a great potential payoff in the term and the numbers. Plus, Chevy didn't write a blank cheque and obviously stood by his limits while negotiating fairly.

Good job all around, so happy to have this done so fast. I never once doubted he'd be back in Winnipeg, but I was settling in to have negotiations be a long and frustrating (for an outsider) process.
