Two way deal means they get payed at a different rate in the AHL and NHL. One way means they get the same pay no matter where they play.

A player may for instance make $600k in the NHL, but only $60K in the AHL on a two way deal. On a one way deal they would make $600k in both places.
I guess that makes more sense, thanks for the clarification
