I don't follow.

Sutter is obviosuly not Staal, but he's a very good 3C.

Assuming, for the moment, that Pittsburgh does sign Parise, their bottom-six looks pretty gritty to me:

FORWARDS
Zach Parise ($7.500m) / Sidney Crosby ($8.700m) / Pascal Dupuis ($1.500m)
James Neal ($5.000m) / Evgeni Malkin ($8.700m) / Tyler Kennedy ($2.000m)
Chris Kunitz ($3.725m) / Brandon Sutter ($2.067m) / Dustin Jeffrey ($0.575m)
Matt Cooke ($1.800m) / Craig Adams ($0.675m) / Joe Vitale ($0.550m)

DEFENSEMEN
Kris Letang ($3.500m) / Brooks Orpik ($3.750m)
Paul Martin ($5.000m) / Matt Niskanen ($1.750m)
Simon Despres ($0.840m) / Deryk Engelland ($0.567m)
Ben Lovejoy ($0.525m) /
GOALTENDERS
Marc-Andre Fleury ($5.000m)
Tomas Vokoun ($2.000m)

(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $65,723,333; BONUSES: $0
CAP SPACE (21-man roster): $4,476,667

I have no idea how they would pair up the defenseman--and I agree that top-4 has at least one hole. But still, that's a scary-looking roster--and they have a tone of kids in their system with top-4 potential.
