Agree with the above posters who suggest the ABS/Fiberglass.

Your friend plays ice and his comments about wood apply to ice. They are are not very applicable to the street hockey. Flexibility doesn't matter much, as with no ice you don't really get much bend in your stick anyway. Plus, most cheapy one pieces will have a wood shaft regardless of the blade, so that doesn't really matter anyway. Also, wood doesn't glide on concrete any better than the fiberglass; n fact, I prefer the feel of the fiberglass blades.
