Definitely agree about the tactics part. If you tie these young kids to tactics and gameplans too tightly, they'll never learn to play the game on their own and their ability to make their own decisions never develops to high enough level. There are a lot of junior coaches out there who are thinking more about their own career and winning worthless series and tournaments, than developing players as individuals. Of course at certain age the tactics and winning trophies become more important but player development should be the main goal at all ages in junior hockey.
