Pull a Lamorello. Give Howson a time frame for our current offer and tell him you're going to start pulling elements out.

I was ok with the idea of Nash before. But now I got another glimpse of some of our prospects. Miller is big, smart and skilled. McIlrath is shaping up to be that feared and strong d zone presence. Thomas had an excellent D camp, size is still a concern. Erixon is our most ready D-man to join the team.

So since Feb., our most promising prospects are only getting better. The outlook on the cap is only getting worse. There's other options. The Atlantic didn't get better (yet). Boston is the same, maybe worse without Thomas. Detroit is worse. Vancouver is slipping into cap hell. There's no reason to plug some holes, go to camp and see what you get out of the pipeline... wait for the CBA mess to sort out. Gaborik returns soon after, maybe Sauer.

Potentially a big UFA year, cap problems around the league, we can move assets in February to bolster up for a cup run.

One side note, if Nash buckles keep an eye on Buffalo. They're re-inventing the late 90s Rangers. Spending good money after bad, scouring the free agent market to fix last year's errors. If they really want Nash in a bad way, watch for Vanek to be available if he isn't flipped to Columbus.
