As for Carle. If we signed him he could play on the second pairing with Justin Scultz, but I don't think he'd be the best fit in that role.

At this point if Edmonton picked up a d-man they'd be looking for a big gritty #3/4 d-man with tons of defensive upside to push Schultz down in the pecking order to play with Whitney.
I can see Franson being a good fit for the Oilers but for what? maybe Franson+3rd for Ganger??
