Syvret doesn't cost us anything against the cap right now. He's on a two-way contract and didn't see any NHL time last season. He will during the season if he actually beats out Bourdon and Gustafsson for the last spot on the roster of course. I very much doubt that will happen though. Bourdon has to go through waivers to be sent down, so I imagine he has the inside track as it stands now (yeah, Syvret does as well, but I doubt he'll be claimed). If Syvret beats out Gustafsson or Manning for the first call up, then they simply haven't been good enough.
