Actual production during the last 4 years of games played. The difference of 9 games over a 4 years span is marginal at best.
Vanek - 126 goals for an average of 31.5 goals per season
Nash - 135 goals for an average of 33.75
Forget Derek Roy for a second here. Tim Connolly is better than any center that Nash has had the opportunity to play with in the last 6 years.

Sure Tim Connolly was better then any of the Centers that Nash played with....but how often did he even play with Connolly? Connolly has only played more then 48 games 3 times since 2005. One season he played 2 games. Mix that with Lindy Ruff's names in a hat line system, and that doesn't add up to too many games on the same line as Vanek. Not to mention that he likes to mix the lines up mid game anyways. Don't try and say Vanek was in a situation any better then Nash, because they both were in bad enough situations that it evens out pretty well. Not to mention that Nash has consistently averaged more minutes per game then Vanek.
