With a current payroll of $68,848,867 per CapGeek, Minnesota will likely have to dump salary when the new CBA is completed and the cap goes down.

To Minnesota: Steve Mason

To Columbus: Niklas Backstrom

This reduces Minnesota's payroll to $65,748,867. That may not still be enough.

However, Columbus gets a proven back up for Bobrovsky, and Minnesota allows Harding to become the starter. Mason gets a change of scenery, and he's a threat to push Harding for the starting job.
I'd do that in a heartbeat but I'd also venture to say that Backstrom would be our starter for his salary and skill set.
