Semin will never be able to convince NHL GM's that he is worth a long, lucrative contract. He could sign with the Pens for a year or two, score 40 goals and contribute to a Cup victory and he'll still be "enigmatic" and that his play with the Pens is only possible because of Sid and Geno and he's too big of a risk to give a significant contract to.
His best bet for money is to sign for a large salary on a short deal, something like 6-7 mil for 2-3 years with a NHL team, play out that contract and hopefully play well and use it as leverage to get megabucks in the KHL.
Already cringing at all the "Crosby interested in Semin" jokes that will be spawned if Semin is in talks to sign with Pens.
