Then add in Ovechkins ability to do it full stride. Its just not even close.
Ovechkin wouldn't be allowed to do the stuff he does now, during the dead puck era. Defensemen would've slashed his arms off. That was his point. Nobody could do, what players today are doing offensively, simply because the new rules don't allow defensemen to hook/ trip/ slash them as much as before. Today, they try to block the shot instead and try to be positionally sound. Forsberg in this era would've been a joke, because he was so good at stickhandling and holding on to the puck.
