Well, that was a weird game.

We played against a team that had recently moved 3 levels down from where they used to be. They were up 4-0 after one period, then scored 3 more times in the first few minutes of the second.

At that point, our goalie quit. He just skated off the ice and left.

So, yours truly spent over half a game in net with nothing but skater's gear, diving "mostly unsuccessfully) to block shots. It's amazing how hard it is to stop a shot without the ability to close your five-hole. By the end of the game, I had basically stopped standing up at all, preferring to scoot around on my knees with my stick flat on the ice.

Weirdest moment was just after I got in net, some **** on the other team cranked a high slapshot. The refs waved off the goal and stuck him with an unsportsmanlike conduct minor.

Anybody else have to do this in a game before?
