I think a lot of contending teams would love to have Chris Neil play on their 3rd line. He's a valuable commodity that brings a physical presence who can also skate well enough and has decent enough hands to hold his own with higher skilled players on the ice.

Chris Neil hasn't been thought of as a 4th line player in this league for a good 5 years now.

I laugh every offseason when Sens fans make lineups with Neil playing on the 4th line when he never ends up playing there.

I guess in the scenario where the Sens end up with another RW group as unbelievable as Alfie, Hossa and Havlat then you can make that argument. But check around the league and you'll quickly see that this type of scoring depth doesn't really exist anymore. Everyone loads up their top 2 lines and the 3rd line is for the most part, a checking/energy line which sometimes contains a decent scoring threat.
