Well it's not like he averaged 143 points and 45 goals a year or anything...
Remember, Gretzky was known to be more of a playmaker than a goal scorer, although he excelled everywhere. So a 40 year old with a pass first mentality, playing on the 2nd line and during the dead puck era isn't going to help. He also had 23 goals and 90 points the year before.
