I'm looking at it from a Stars fan's perspective. Before the trade, the team had no second line center. After the trade, the Stars have a second line center who at the very least will produce as much as the 3rd liner they gave up.

Yeah, teams need physical play and toughness from guys like Ott, but it's not like that has helped the Stars win any playoff games the last four seasons. That stuff is also much easier to replace than is finding a guy skilled enough to play the second line center spot.

Roy may have some risks about him given his injury problems, but that's why the Stars were able to get him by only giving up a 3rd liner and a d-man they didn't need. There is a bit of a gamble, but as I see it, there is no real downside for the Stars. There is a possibility of tremendous upside. If Roy gets back to a point a game type of form, this will be a great trade for the Stars.
