(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $65,111,794; BONUSES: $587,500
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $5,088,206

As unlikely as I feel it is, I can hold out hope that they sign Shane Doan (I threw out an arbitrary number of $5 mil per, a slight raise on his last deal). With him, I think it's a very respectable top 6, assuming Kane can handle center. He and Hossa worked pretty well together in the early part of last season, so maybe they rekindle that. I think Jimmy Hayes is a borderline roster player in training camp, especially with the return of Carcillo from injury, and then Bollig is there as a scratch for tough guy insurance. I removed Frolik, thinking he may be traded for peanuts (late round pick, minor leaguer who's not much of a prospect). I really wish he would get a better chance here, he certainly has skills, and he was huge in the last two playoffs, but he just doesn't seem to be Q's type of player, so I think it would make sense for a team with cap space in need of forward depth to take a chance on him.

Defense is pretty much just what they have, Montador has stuck around for now, Brookbank is there as a 7th man, and Olsen is back in the minors. Montador could still be moved out, as well as Hjalmarsson for that matter, but they're D depth is already suspect, so I doubt they'll be moved.

In goal I think they give Crawford another chance. He had an inconsistent sophomore season after a solid rookie year, so I expect they'll see if it was a sophomore slump or stalled development.
