Except a lot of athletes are not driven by logic; there's pride, ego, greed, you name it.
Some athletes actually actually like the limelight and high pressure situations, or so I've heard: not to mention the competitive edge such a team might have over a lower echelon club.
I don't know bupkis about how Poile and Weber get along, but if you think past dealings don't have an influence on future negotiations, well, I would disagree with that whole-heartedly.
