I would think that before you officially match, you would call him and say "Shea, we're going to match. Are we going to get a 100% professional commitment out of you?"

I assume Shea would answer Yes and they'd move on, but as a team committing so much of its future to a player, you would probably make a courtesy call to check all of your bases.
