Someone who picks up the position at 20 knowing it is a good way to play a ton of games for free, or because they want to try out the position (it is really a totally different sport), doesn't really count.

A goalie can be hot or cold.
Young goalies are often pitted against each other. A star goalie isn't that far away from being a backup. It's stressful.
Bad play by their teammates can make them look bad.
A goalie is untouchable, but can chirp and slash.
Left out of a lot of the social aspect of hockey. Players on the bench can make fun of teammates on the ice and give it to them when they come back after missing an open net. After a loss no one will do the same to the goalie; they are treated like they are fragile.
