Markov, Koivu and Kovalev are all pretty much at the same level.

Koivu because he was the captain for so long and played at a very good level. An example on and off the ice and a great playoff warrior. Sad that they let him go...

Markov was here long and gradually became very good and extremely important for the team year after year, a top player at his position. He's still with the team as well. Sadly the injuries have taken a toll but unlike the other two he can still show us some good hockey hopefully.

Kovalev probably had the highest peak of the 3, that season were he was over PPG and utterly dominated. He was IMHO the most enjoyable player watch play on the Habs since I've started paying attention to hockey by far.

Price is going to be better than the 3 of them for sure tho. Hopefully in 10 more years we can say ''Galchenyuk'' without hesitation

The best player year by year (based on results) :

2000/01-Koivu
2001/02-Theodore
2002/03-Koivu
2003/04-Theodore (possibly Ribeiro/Koivu)
2004/05-NA
2005/06-Kovalev
2006/07-Koivu (Souray or even Markov might have been arguably better)
2007/08-Kovalev
2008/09-Markov
2009/10-Halak
2010/11-Price
2011/12-Price
