He resolved the Staal situation when it became public knowledge that Staal was looking to leave when his contract ran out. Did Shero have an inkling much earlier that Staal wanted to leave and he waited until the end thus costing the team a much greater return? Michalek was dumped to give cap relief for a potential Suter & Parise signing and also because this coaching staff refused to play Michalek to his strengths. There will no quality UFA this season and giving up assets for a maybe trade down the road that may or not be there is always a risk. The only thing I agree with is the improvement in the goaltending position but lack of wings and lack of veteran defenseman will doom this team especially come playoff time. Ray Shero has got a lot of work to do.
