It got me wondering, if all countries entered an All-Star skydiving team, who would each country enter? Team GB have their duo sorted, what about everyone else? Perhaps Team USA could enter Chris Evans as Captain America and Paris Hilton (with Sarah Palin in the role of spoiler on the ground with a shotgun, until the Duke of Edinborough catches up with her). Who would Canada enter? Celine Dion and Justin Bieber? Don't suppose there is a shortage of parachutes in Canada right now, is there? Portugal could just hold a lottery and enter any two members of their national football team to take part in an event I'm sure they'd adapt to very quickly
I think we're okay with a little folly. Our politicians do a good job of preparing us for the embarrassment of when someone else screws up. Boris Johnson being a prime example. He is on stage in front of thousands of people. Members of the media from around the world are present. He is making a speech welcoming the world to London for a sporting event that will unite us all and he starts making jokes at the expense of other nations (Greece was one, I think Spain was another). Just so it's clear, everyone here knows Boris is a bit of an idiot. The other bit of him is a moron.
Should be a good game. Canada used to be a lot better, but they've fallen a lot. Losing Kara Lang was a huge kick in the stomach for Canadian soccer.
I think Canada can beat any team on the tournament, but they will need to be at their best. They looked sloppy against Japan earlier. They didn't even play well against Sweden until the last 25 minutes or so, but then they dominated.
Canada is down 3 defenders to injury, which is a huge disadvantage.
