Because he's a terrible skater. A center has to cover more space than a winger. A center is supposed to distribute the puck in the offensive zone, and has more defensive responsibilities than a winger. Because his skating is bad, I think he'd be better served at wing, where he has to skate less.

His skating has been fine, especially since he worked with Underhill. He played a lot of minutes against the best players in the league for one of the best defensive teams in the league. If his skating was an issue, he wouldnt have been in that role.
