Cowan always came across to me as a guy that got to pro hockey and realized that he was nothing special, so he started fighting to add a dimension. His PIMs took a huge leap his third season as a pro. Went from 23PIM in 69gp in his second season to 117 in 71, with 11 fights all of a sudden in his third year.
Terrible fighter, but any time someone took liberties on his teammates, he'd jump in there. I have a lot of respect for the guy.
