Since we are talking about rebuilding, Immonen needs to be given every opportunity to be the 2nd line center and Prucha MUST be given a permanent spot on the top 2 lines (I still do not understand how the Devs can skate Parise on the top 2 lines, but Renney cannot move past Prucha being a 4th line player).
Helminen is ready as well. What does that mean? No big UFA forwards. Resign Straka and Sykora to be the other 2 vet forwards (alongside Jagr and Nylander) and to make Jagr happy, and the rest should be what is already here and in Hartford.
Where it is extremely easy to upgrade is the defense. However, again, since this is a rebuilding team, a spot MUST be kept open for a rookie. Since there is no ridding us of Ozolinsh, Rozsival cannot be resigned. Keep one spot open for either Pock (with whom it is time to either crap of get off the pot) or Staal (whichever outplays the other in camp). Who knows, maybe Baranka or Liffiton can step up as well (more than likely each needs another full year in Hartford).
Therefore, I only want one UFA (not counting Straka and Sykora) and that should be the absolutely best defenseman who is willing to sign with us. In no particular order:
Nortstrom signed a two year extension to stay in LA
