The CBA will dictate Gaborik's Ranger future. The Rangers have 4 group IIs next summer. They make up $4.3M this season. It will cost 3 times that to keep those players provided they stay healthy. The cap decreases from $70.2M. The Rangers will need to make a tough choice in terms of shedding salary to make the numbers work next summer. NY fans are spoiled by having money. The Yankees will get their payroll under $189M by 2014. Its saves them so much money. MLB CBA is set up fir the NYY to save $ by lowering their payroll. They will benefit from it. The current payroll is $209M which includes Burnetts money. Some of my fellow NYY are up in arms over having a $189M payroll. It will still be the highest payroll in MLB but the spoiled babies want them to spend more than NYY are spending right now. Its either moving Gaborik's $7.5M or moving 2 $3M plus players. You can't have all of the bottom 6 forwards making NHL minimum money and a roster with zero depth which is top heavy.
