I'm aware that Lorenz, Matson and Vogelhuber have all signed AHL contracts but technically they'll become UFAs. However, it's safe to say that they likely won't sign an NHL contract before August 15.
Nick Larson (the one born on 1/16/1989) was drafted by the Capitals in 2007 after playing for Omaha (USHL). In 2007-08, he attended the University of Minnesota but did not play due to injury.

He attended the University of Minnesota for 5 years and he just finished his fourth season playing hockey. In February 2012, he said that he had finished up his academic requirements for his major and is working on finishing up his minor.

He may have needed to be signed last year. It all depends on how colleges determine their class. He could have entered the University as a non-degree-deeking student in 2007-08 and then was formally admitted in the Fall 2008. Anyway, it won't make a difference after Wednesday.

CBA - 8.6(c)(ii). If a Player drafted at age 18 or 19, who had received a Bona Fide Offer becomes a bona fide college student prior to the second June 1 following his selection in the Entry Draft and remains a bona fide college student through the graduation of his college class, his drafting Club shall retain the exclusive rights of negotiation for his services through and including the August 15 following the graduation of his college class.
