I guess I always thought that the defenseman's main priority was keeping the puck out of your own net, not scoring and getting points.

Bottom line, the defensemen in hockey are a goalies last line of defense. If you are making dumb mistakes that cost goals on a consistant basis, you are not a very good defensemen in my opinion. Everyone is saying that Sheldon is amazing and that I must be stupid to be questioning his play, but I know if I was Huet I would not be happy with him to just let anyone walk in alone on me.

You can all flame me as much as you want, I stand by my opinion. Defensemen don't play for glory, and they are the most unsung heros of the game. The best defensemen go unnoticed because they never make mistakes, play with grit and heart, and keep the puck out of the net. I'd rather have that then a player who is always making costly mistakes and score 40 points a year.
